One flat price: R300 per consultation.

Every consultation costs R300, weekday or Saturday, whatever it is about. The documents that follow from it, a script, a sick note, or a referral where clinically indicated, are included. There is nothing to add at checkout and nothing to decode afterwards.

What you get

What R300 includes.

20 unhurried minutes

A full video consultation with an HPCSA-registered doctor, extendable to around 30 minutes where clinically necessary, at no extra cost.

Prescription, where appropriate

An e-script issued via EMGuidance and emailed to you or your pharmacy, where medication is clinically indicated.

Sick note, where warranted

A valid certificate of illness for work or study, included in the fee where the assessment supports it.

Referral letter, where needed

A letter to a specialist, radiology, or pathology, where investigation or specialist care is clinically indicated.

Documents emailed straight after

Whatever is issued arrives in your inbox shortly after the call, along with a receipt you can submit to your medical aid.

Context

The fee, in context.

A typical private GP consultation in South Africa often costs R500 or more, before travel, parking, and the hours a clinic visit takes out of a working day. Medicus runs a lean online practice with no consulting rooms to maintain, and that structure is what makes the flat R300 possible.

The fee is the same on Saturday mornings as on weekdays. There is no booking fee, no surcharge for sick notes or repeat scripts, and no charge for the documents themselves. If a consultation ever cannot help you, because your condition needs in-person care, the doctor will say so and point you to the right place.

Payment

Ways to pay.

Payment is taken securely at booking through PayFast. Your card details never touch Medicus servers.

Card

Visa and Mastercard credit, debit and cheque cards.

Apple Pay and Google Pay

One-tap payment from your phone, right in the booking flow.

Instant EFT and open banking

Pay directly from your bank account, confirmed immediately.

SnapScan

Scan and pay from the SnapScan app.

Medical aid

No medical aid needed. Claiming back is up to you.

Medicus is a direct-pay service, so you never need a scheme to book. If you have medical aid with a savings account, you can submit the emailed receipt to claim the consultation back; many schemes reimburse GP video consultations this way. Check your plan's rules for the final word.

The fee

One consultation, one fee.

R300

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Is it really R300 for everything?+

The consultation is R300 flat, and any documents that follow from it, a script, sick note, or referral where clinically indicated, are included at no extra charge. The only costs outside the fee are things Medicus does not sell: the medication you collect at a pharmacy, or the specialist you go on to see.

Does a Saturday appointment cost more?+

No. R300 is the price whenever you book, weekday or Saturday morning. There are no peak-time surcharges.

Can I claim the consultation from medical aid?+

You do not need medical aid to book, but if you have a scheme with a savings account you can submit the receipt that is emailed to you. Many schemes reimburse video GP consultations from savings; confirm the specifics with your scheme.

What if I need longer than 20 minutes?+

The slot is 20 minutes, and where it is clinically necessary the doctor can extend to around 30 minutes at no extra cost. If your situation needs more than that, she will advise on a follow-up or an in-person visit.

What does a follow-up cost?+

A follow-up is booked like any consultation, at the same flat R300. The doctor will tell you honestly whether one is needed; most everyday matters resolve in a single consultation.

Can I reschedule, and what about refunds?+

You can reschedule by replying to your confirmation email any time before your appointment, at no charge. The refund policy is set out on the Terms page.

How is a flat R300 possible?+

Structure, not corners. An online practice carries no consulting rooms, and Medicus runs lean by design. The clinical side is uncompromised: a registered GP, unhurried time, and proper documents where clinically indicated.

One fee, no surprises.
